Job Description

The Security Engineering Lab at Prince Sultan University offers Postdoc positions for outstanding fresh PhD holders, in four main areas:

• Software Security:

We work on a broad scope of securing software applications. We investigate mechanisms to help software developers to write secure application with the help of automated tools.

• Network Security:

We have been working extensively of securing networks, coming up with different protocols and securing them. We work in intrusion detection and prevention systems. We introduce lightweight security solutions to protect the routing services in Wireless sensor networks (WSN) and the multimedia services in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) from different types of security attacks.

• Mobile Security:

We are interested in malware/ransomware detection and prevention in mobile applications. We propose smart detection systems and risk scoring systems for Android malwares in general and Ransomwares in specific.

• Cybersecurity:

We are interested in a broad range of area that falls under the umbrella of cybersecurity.

The candidate must demonstrate to have strong technical skills and to be eager to address scientific challenges and problems, and to be very dynamic.

The candidate must have sufficient background to work on any project in the above research interests and must demonstrate some previous experience with the related topics.

SEL Mission

Security Engineering Lab (SEL) is looking to contribute significantly to deliver the vision and mission of Prince Sultan University and consequently the Saudi initiatives of 2020 with regard to research and development of the security engineering area. The mission of the lab is:

● Motivate, educate and train a new generation of cybersecurity researchers and professionals to produce experts in cyber technologies and systems.

● Foster several collaborations with national and international security research groups and centers, governmental agencies, companies and academic institutions with the purpose of excellence in security solutions outcomes.

● Contribute significantly to providing educational, research, outreach, and partnering security services nationally and internationally.

Job Requirements

● Hold PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields

● PhD degree obtained in the last three years

● Has published at least 3 high quality journal papers during his PhD (minimum eligibility requirement)

● Research interest and expertise in one of the aforementioned areas of interest

● Excellent programming and software development skills

● Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team

● Be very dynamic and self-motivated

● Excellent writing skills of technical and research papers in English

● Excellent spoken skills in English

● Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to deliver on challenging software development tasks
